Every so often, I get the chance for a little self-indulgence. (Who am I trying to kid?? This is the most fun job in the world – the job itself is a TOTAL indulgence!!) This time around, it was creating something to wow the crowds at the Pace Academy Fall Fair. It needed to be eye-catching, gorgeous and, dare I say it, a little extravagant – I wanted people to get an instant feel for the kinds of things we can do! Having seen some of the lavish creations put together by the likes of Preston Bailey and David Tutera, I decided it was time to tackle my biggest floral centerpiece yet. Two hundred roses, thirty spray roses, fifty carnations and twenty hydrangea later, it was not only the biggest but also the heaviest – seriously, lifting it was no mean feat…! Of course, our tent was top to toe in theme with our logo colors of pink, gold and white, with paper lanterns dotted around the ceiling and a pink sequin table linen to die for! For a very cool giveaway, we teamed up with none other than Chuck Bush of Southern Nights Photo Booths, putting in our own pretty paper and fringe backdrop so that even the photo strips co-ordinated with our theme! We were busy all day long and ended up giving away well over a thousand photo strips – everyone left with smiles on their faces and a small memento of the fun they’d had at the Fair. One lucky Fair-goer also won our free draw and got to take home a copy of our showcase decor book, The Art of the Party, featuring over one hundred of our favorite events. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and everyone was having a great time – it couldn’t have been better. I mean, when else do you get to stand around all day talking about parties and other fun stuff like that?? I tell you, this really is the most fun job in the world!
