Midnight In Paris

Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” movie was the inspiration for this 50th birthday party.  Over the front door, a Paris sign was illuminated, Moulin Rouge style.  The entrance hall was transformed into a chic Parisian avenue, with pink blossom trees and a towering Eiffel Tower.  Beyond, a flower seller’s stall and stylized black and white awnings created the feel of a Parisian street café.  Guests dined at The Ritz – a place synonymous with the artists’ scene of the 1920s and a favorite of Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald.  In the Brasserie, a delicious French menu was served followed by made-to-order crêpes.  On the lower entertainment level, the bar was decorated with vintage Parisian posters and beautiful chrome art deco style tables.  A custom-made paper moon, a typical prop of the 1920s, provided the perfect photo opportunity.  The bartender served up a menu of cocktails from the era – the silk stocking, the sidecar and the classic champagne cocktail.  A  jazz band played 1920s style music as guests twirled and swirled around the dance floor, the men in their dinner jackets and spats, the ladies in their beaded flapper dresses and feather boas.  For just one night, it was as if a little piece of Paris had been transported to the heart of Buckhead…
