Ramblin’ Wreck 80th

When a former Georgia Tech footballer turned 80, his family decided to surprise him with a party to celebrate him and his sporting career!  We set up tables and chairs under the shady trees, and a bar area in the cool enclosure of a pretty covered porch.  We decorated using a collection of old photos which we had made into banners, posters and hanging photo collages.  Twenty dozen roses added bright splashes of yellow to a decor scheme that was otherwise largely black and white.  Tall floral pedestals stood either side of a brick terrace, framing the bluegrass band which entertained guests as they dined on One Star Ranch‘s legendary barbeque.  Riff Raff, not surprisingly, did not miss the opportunity to get into character, donning a golden GT helmet and a jersey he borrowed from a real GT football player.  At the bar, even the beer bottles sported team koozies!  And we made sure guests were greeted at the end of the steep driveway by the their very own Ramblin’ Wreck - a golf cart decked-out in all manner of pompoms, pennants and flags.  Old friends spent a happy afternoon sitting in the shade, reminiscing about the good old days, feet tapping away to the vibes of Jimmy T and his bluegrass buddies!
