When it comes to throwing a 50th Birthday Party, this one ranks pretty high on the “cool” factor. By day, Birthday Boy Scott and his buddies took a guitar improv workshop with sessions musician and master educator, Robbie Calvo. By night, they rocked the stage at Dunwoody’s Temple Emanu-El, honoring the party with their very own private gig. Chef Cary’s Cuisine catered a seated dinner for more than 60 guests and we were tasked with designing decor for the night’s festivities. Using ’70s and ’80s rock as the inspiration, we constructed guitar centerpieces, using vinyl records and mirror balls to create other decorative features around the venue. Tall decor pieces at the entrance and on stage featured guitars and glittered “ROCK” letters, topped off with a plume of foil “pyrotechnics”! Lighted star arches added to the Rock Star feel and dozens of red roses (18 dozen to be precise!) emulated the 80s rock vibe. And, of course, Riff Raff was right in the middle of it, riffing away on his own guitar… This was truly a unique, memorable and very personal party for all who came, celebrating the Birthday Boy and one of his many talents!
