Our clients were hosting an office Holiday party and wanted their home to look festive without sporting the traditional red & green or blue & silver themes of the season. The house was decorated in a beautiful palette of taupe, parchment and grey, so we pulled together muted hues of silvered greens and whites for a series of wintery arrangements with a touch of frost. Against the tactile foliage of Pussy willow, blue cedar and Dusty Miller, hydrangea, gypsophila and tiny white daffodils created a delicate feel whilst eucalyptus pods permeated the air with their fresh pine fragrance. We added a second layer to the decor using cotton bolls to create a wreath for the front door, a garland for the sitting room mantle and a coffee table centerpiece. Out front, candlelit lanterns and the flickering lights of mercury glass votives hanging from crab apple branches welcomed guests. Out back, an outdoor fireplace provided the opportunity for guests to make s’mores and, to ward off any evening chills, a basket of cozy fleece blankets was available to wrap around their shoulders. A casual and delicious spread was catered by Scott Edlein of You Should Eat! whilst drinks were served out on the terrace and an acoustic guitarist played.
